This is an introduction to the poetry, criticism and novels of the 20th century writer Edwin Muir. Written for a student and general audience it takes the reader chronologically through all Muir's major works, relating them to his life and experiences. It brings out the influence of German Romanticism on Muir, especially in his earlier poems, and illustrates the impact of his Scottish background on his work. His stylistic attributes are analyzed and a brief biography and full bibliography accompany the main text.
