His historical fiction sold worldwide with descriptions so accurate his books were used in school history classes. After more than 30 years out of print hundreds of public and school libraries still offer his books, and they¿re traded on the internet around the world.
Publisher George Scott is Schoonover¿s great-nephew. He was inspired by these books and determined to see them back in print for another generation of readers.

Schoonover was born in Iowa, graduated from University of Wisconsin and moved to New York to work for a large advertising agency.
